CarboCheck in Greene King Plant ImprovementsBury St. Edmunds-based brewer, Greene King, recently purchased a CarboCheck system from Canongate Technology Ltd. The new system, which forms part of the company's plant improvement programme, is being used to control the injection of CO2 prior to the beer buffer tanks in the keg hall. Greene King selected Canongate's system because it has, historically, always given reliable performance on carbonated beverages. Other considerations included recent developments which allow the unit to correct the gas reading for significant nitrogen levels. The system supplied to Greene King comprised a CarboCheck control valve and a pinpoint carbonator. The system was installed into the Greene King's existing pipework to measure the amount of CO2 on-line and feed back the information to control the additional gas. Uniquely Greene King is also using the same pinpoint carbonator to inject N2 for its draft flow products - the amount of nitrogen injected is controlled by a rotameter. |
