Marstons Replace Labour Intensive System with Canongate CarboCheck

As part of its programme of continuously upgrading its equipment, Marstons, the Burton-on-Trent based brewery, recently replaced its carbonation system with a new in-line system. Canongate's Embra CarboCheck was chosen and installed on the main filter line on route to the bright beer tanks at the brewery, where it is used for CO2 adjustment in a range of bottled beers mainly low C and canned "Pedigree". The unit features a CO2 control valve and Wittemann pinpoint carbonator.

The new system provides improved accuracy whilst reducing the number of man hours involved. David Finch at Marstons, said "We chose the CarboCheck because of Canongate's expertise in the field. We know the system worked effectively and had no qualms about updating the filtration line with a CarboCheck. It was chosen as the best compromise between cost performance and simplicity of operation".

Within a few months of installation, Marston's was so delighted with the performance of CarboCheck they bought another unit. The second unit acts as a monitor only, for dissolved CO2 on the bottling line.
