Expertise and Experience Secures European COBlend Orders over Rising Sterling Prices.

Canongate Technology Ltd. recently supplied its new COBlend system to the Lisbon-based brewery company, Central De Cervejas, and to the Albani Brewery in Odense, Denmark. Orders for the systems, which measure and control the amount of CO2 and % alcohol in beer, were won against fierce overseas competition.

Canongate's Sales and Marketing Director, Brian Taylor, said "We were particularly pleased with both contracts because they were successfully negotiated against a background of rising sterling. This made life a little difficult, but not impossible!"

In the end, both companies chose to purchase the combined blender / carbonator because of Canongate's expertise and experience in the brewery environment. This experience has resulted in another order for an identical unit from the Portuguese brewery. By working closely with Central De Cervejas, Canongate was able to overcome successfully some initial difficulties on the Lisbon project and are set to deliver and install the new system in September.

The COBlend system is a compact well-designed blending control unit, which uses "CarboCheck" gas diffusion technology to measure the amount of CO2 dissolved in the beer and to control the injection of additional gas. The analysis system for alcohol and residual sugar in beer features the best of on-line non-sampling technology. It utilises a process densitometer, along with non-invasive ultrasonics. Combined with closed loop control, the package combines to offer a total solution for beer blending and enables maximum filter room flexibility.
