Acid Concentration Measurement System

Chemical manufacturer, Rhone Poulenc, produces a wide range of ultra-pure acids, including H2SO4 for use in the PCB industry.

When the company wanted to introduce a new method of acid concentration measurement, it chose to purchase a DensiCheck liquid density and concentration measurement system from Canongate Technology Ltd. The new system has been installed at the company's Stavely works in Chesterfield.

The DensiCheck units measure the temperature and the 'speed of sound' through the liquid via a non-invasive 'sonar' probe. This probe allows the measurement head to work without ever contacting the product - vital when the product is extremely corrosive.

DensiCheck is accurate to within 0.05% at the upper end of the scale. Rhone Poulenc has benefited from 'low cost of ownership', given the minimal maintenance equipment of the system. This benefit should hold true even in the long term.

Following the success of the first installation Rhone Poulenc bought a further DensiCheck system for use on their Nitric acid line.
