Holledge System from Canongate Helps to Reduce Wastage From Blending Oil Additives

Liverpool-based R.S. Clare Ltd., a company which celebrates its 250th anniversary this year, specialises in blending oil additives for the automotive and paint industries. When the company wanted additional information on the contents of a number of storage tanks in its production plant, it chose to use CT Holledge PB pressure transducers from Canongate Technology Ltd.

These PB pressure transmitters are designed so that they can be used either on the tank or in the associated pipe work and, being pneumatic, are intrinsically safe and therefore suitable for hazardous area applications. The tanks used at R.S. Clare are non-pressurised, but as Canongate engineers could not gain access to the tank, the transmitters had to be mounted in the pipe work outside the hazardous area.

Accuracy of the range of PB transmitters is to within +/-0.5% at an point within the range, while repeatability and hysteresis is better than 0.04% of span. The transmitters, being fully overload protected, made them suitable for use by R.S. Clare.

The system has proved to be reliable, repeatable and accurate. In the long term, R.S. Clare plans to be able to reduce wastage by better stock control recording and reporting procedures.
