Matthew Clark Ltd Expand VesselCheckMatthew Clark Ltd, one of the UK's leading drinks producers has invested further in VesselCheck, the non-invasive tank level measurement system from Canongate Technology, the Edinburgh based process instrumentation and control systems supplier. Bristol based Matthew Clark is the Number 1 wine producer in the UK. They have a passion for their brands which they support with major investment in the two South West production bases. Roy Hurford, Winery Manager at the Bristol Site, first contacted Canongate a few years ago and within a few months the first VesselCheck systems were installed on new wine storage tanks. Since then Roy has installed the system on several other tanks. VesselCheck is entirely non-invasive, meaning there's no need to make holes in the vessels and no downtime during installation. With high accuracy being a key feature, VesselCheck also offers the user level measurement which is independent of temperature and density of liquid in the tanks. Two small ultrasonic transducers are clamped to the outside of the vessel, one on the bottom, one on the side. These sensors send signals back to the central processor, which can monitor levels/volumes in up to 16 vessels. At Matthew Clark, the system also monitors liquid temperature and feeds all data back to the plant control plc which in turn controls cooling in the vessels. Andy Wybrow, Sales Engineer at Canongate said "Matthew Clark Brands have been using VesselCheck for a few years now and each year have expanded the system by ten or so tanks. The main benefits they realise include the very high accuracy allowing tight cost control and intrinsic hygiene offered by the system, assisting them to ensure continued quality of product." |
