Croda Chemicals is using a Canongate VesselCheck ST system as an interface detector on a continuous back washing system. The VesselCheck is helping maintain a constant level and flow rate throughout the plant, and initial test of the system have proved a success.

VesselCheck is Canongate's high-accuracy, non-invasive continuous liquid level measurement system. Accurate to 0.1%, the system operates entirely non-intrusively via two small ultrasonic transducers mounted on the outside of the vessel, one on the bottom and one on the side. The transducer on the side acts as a reference, automatically compensating for variations in temperature and density, so there is no need to re-calibrate if tank contents change. VesselCheck meets the requirements of safety, reliability and accuracy when used on hazardous chemicals - traditionally, a difficult measurement proposition. VesselCheck has been used successfully to measure a wide range of products from acids to solvents to oils.
